Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our diesel fleet including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. Candidates with heavy-vehicle experience or diesel mechanic education are preferred.

The role involves preventative maintenance, diagnostics, safety inspections, and proper documentation. Opportunities include tool reimbursement, tuition assistance for ASE certifications, and shift differential pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred.
• One year experience or certificate in vehicle maintenance.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble and adjust equipment for safe operation.
• Works with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Documents maintenance in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles, as required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
