Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment. This role emphasizes preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and documentation to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Starting pay is $29.04 per hour with benefits including tool reimbursement and certification-related pay. The position is non-exempt and may include shift differentials and tuition reimbursement opportunities for ASE credentials.

Qualifications

• : High School Diploma (or GED), preferred
• : Must have one year experience performing vehicle maintenance or be within sixty days of obtaining a vehicle maintenance certificate or completion of the FedEx Freight Apprentice Program
• : One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred
• : Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks
• : Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment
• : Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for troubleshooting and repairs
• : Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems
• : Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines
• : Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred
• : Able to lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance
• : Ability to operate vehicles with manual/automatic transmission
• : Paint and body work experience preferred
• : Ability to work independently or as a team member
• : Basic written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• : Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
• : Performs basic diagnostics to identify source of trouble and adjusts equipment for safe operation
• : Works with other technicians in preventative maintenance and repairs
• : Documents maintenance performed, completes reports
• : Performs safety inspections and documents the work
• : Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required
• : Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies
• : Perform other duties as required
