This position leads the development and implementation of maintenance systems, supervises maintenance staff and volunteers, oversees fleet readiness for programs and rentals, and supports day-to-day operations by serving as Manager on Duty (MOD) and providing leadership coverage when needed.
As CSNO's boat rental program continues to grow, this position will play a key role in developing, managing, and expanding rental operations. During the initial implementation phase, the Fleet & Program Operations Manager will spend a larger portion of their time supporting programs and serving as MOD while helping establish rental systems, procedures, and staffing structures. Over time, the role is expected to transition toward increased oversight of rental operations as additional seasonal staff are trained to provide MOD coverage.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who combines strong maintenance and operational skills with sailing experience, leadership ability, and a commitment to CSNO's mission.
Success in this role means ensuring that CSNO's fleet, facilities, equipment, and rental operations are safe, organized, well-maintained, and fully prepared to support exceptional participant experiences.
Fleet, Facilities, and Equipment Management Lead the maintenance, repair, and long-term stewardship of CSNO's fleet, equipment, vehicles, trailers, facilities, and grounds. Develop and implement preventive maintenance systems, inspection schedules, maintenance records, and asset tracking processes. Ensure boats, equipment, and facilities are safe, functional, and ready to support programs, rentals, and special events. Perform and coordinate maintenance and repair projects, including work completed by staff, volunteers, vendors, and contractors. Maintain inventories of equipment, tools, supplies, and replacement parts. Assist with maintenance budgeting, fleet planning, and asset replacement recommendations. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, equipment longevity, and overall fleet readiness.
Maintenance Staff and Volunteer Leadership Train, schedule, supervise, and support maintenance staff and volunteers. Create project plans, work schedules, and task assignments that align with organizational priorities. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Provide instruction and guidance on equipment care, maintenance procedures, and operational best practices. Coordinate volunteer workdays and maintenance projects.
Boat Rental Program Development and Management Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of CSNO's boat rental program. Support the creation and implementation of rental policies, procedures, safety standards, and operational systems. Coordinate rental scheduling, fleet availability, inspections, check-in/check-out procedures, and damage reporting. Evaluate renter qualifications and determine rental eligibility in accordance with program policies. Monitor rental participation, equipment usage, customer feedback, and program performance. Recommend and implement improvements to support the growth and long-term success of the rental program. Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure a positive and safe rental experience.
Program Operations and Leadership Support Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) for designated programs, events, and organizational activities. Supervise, mentor, and support seasonal staff while serving in a leadership role. Support program delivery, safety oversight, staff training, and special events. Assist in developing operational systems and staff leadership capacity to support future organizational growth. As the rental program grows and additional seasonal staff are trained to serve as MODs, responsibilities within this area may decrease while rental program management responsibilities increase.
Additional Responsibilities Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to fleet maintenance, rentals, projects, and operations. Utilize organizational software and Microsoft Office applications to support planning, communication, and project tracking. Perform other duties as assigned to support CSNO's mission and operational success.
