Job summary

The Flat Rate Technician at VIP is responsible for diagnosing automotive systems, performing repairs, and ensuring services are completed right the first time. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to VIP processes, and delivering a superior customer experience in a fast-paced shop.

Key duties include managing service work orders, obtaining parts through the desk, and maintaining equipment and workspace while pursuing ASE certifications and ongoing training to meet VIP quality standards.

Qualifications

• Read, analyze, and interpret technical instructions, journal and procedures, or governmental regulations
• Effectively explain vehicle information to customers, present and respond to questions from coworkers
• Diagnose and recommend solutions to basic automotive problems
• Interpret, understand, and apply instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to successfully perform required types of automotive services listed above

Responsibilities

• Ensure workplace safety is Priority #1 and follow all safety policies and training
• Provide diagnosis, repair, and maintenance services for customers, covering ASE-rated systems
• Initiate a valid Service Work Order and display it with the vehicle during service
• Complete MPI prior to service and support the 5-for-5 Customer Engagement Process
• Return Service Work Orders and printouts with keys upon service completion
• Procure parts from Desk Team and return unused parts after service
• Return cores, batteries and used tires to designated areas for proper handling
• Maintain a minimum 16-week average productivity based on position
