Job summary

Milk Bar in New York City is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations of a flagship bakery. You will lead customer service, staff recruitment and development, payroll and scheduling, and ensure compliance with food safety and brand standards.

Responsibilities include managing inventory, implementing sales strategies to meet budgets, and coordinating with area managers. The role requires strong leadership, adaptability, and a passion for food and hospitality.

Qualifications

• 2 years of managerial/supervisory experience in hospitality or food industry.
• Food handler card (Food Protection Certificate in NYC).
• Strong leadership, decision making and multitasking skills.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Self-starter who observes needs and implements changes.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities; delegate as needed.
• Passion for food, sweets and coffee.
• Ability to build relationships and embrace change.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand during shifts.
• Regular in-person attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the designated Milk Bar Flagship.
• Lead customer service initiatives and uphold brand standards.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop staff; manage payroll and scheduling.
• Maintain bakery operations, food safety, and inventory; ensure cleanliness and safety.
• Monitor financial performance; manage budget, sales, and gross margins.
• Coordinate with area managers; attend bakery meetings weekly.
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, GMP standards, and Covid-19 related rules.
• Liaise with delivery and pickup services for menu changes and operations.
