Job summary

Principal Financial Group is seeking two Fixed Income summer interns for 2027. You may work on High Yield or split between Structured Product and Investment Grade. The internship will culminate in a final presentation on your investment recommendation.

Location: Des Moines, IA. Responsibilities include assisting traders, analysts and portfolio managers, creating financial models, analyzing investment opportunities, improving processes, and supporting sector coverage.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field with finance coursework.
• Completion of intermediate finance coursework by Summer 2027.
• Strong finance, data and quantitative skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist traders, analysts and portfolio managers on an ad hoc basis.
• Create financial models and analyze investment opportunities.
• Improve, streamline and document existing processes.
• Assist with sector coverage and investor communication.
• Interact with roadshows or Bloomberg representatives.
• Prepare investment performance commentary and credit reviews.
