Job summary

Principal Financial Group is seeking an Equities Intern for Summer 2027 to join our research team. You will collaborate with portfolio managers and sector analysts to deliver proprietary research and investment recommendations.

You will participate in the equity investment process with deep fundamental research, financial modeling, and opportunities to present your investment theses to the team. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in a global asset management setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting, engineering, business analytics, math, statistics, sciences or related major.
• Courses or experience in security analysis including equity valuation.
• Exposure to equity investments via student groups or work experience.
• Ability to use AI-enabled research tools to enhance ideas and due diligence.
• Availability to work full-time, onsite in Des Moines, IA or New York City, NY in Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the equity investment process with deep fundamental research and financial modeling.
• Support Research Analysts in developing differentiated investment ideas.
• Work on special projects identifying buy/sell candidates and present investment theses.
• Embed within the equity research organization through daily meetings and sector discussions.
