Job description

Days & Time: This position will work 40 hours a week. Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with a one-hour lunchbreak.

Work Conditions: Moderate noise. Business office setting. Individual cubicle in shared space.

Pay: $39,500 - $42,500 per year

Job Summary

This position performs accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, and bank reconciliations. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, codes, regulations of governing agencies, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Assists in review, development, and/or implementation of effective financial procedures and provide guidelines to achieve objectives of overall financial operation.

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will:

  • Performs accounting and fiscal control functions specifically relating to accounts payable/accounts receivable.
  • Records financial transactions, analyzes and reconciles accounting records, and preparesstandard accounting reports.
  • Determines sources of errors by researching accounting records.
  • Reports errors to Supervisor.
  • Maintains complete, accurate, and readily accessible files that conform to applicable policies,procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Essential Functions
  • Processes requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and payments to include MIERS and AP Contracts toDBHDD.
  • Prepares and enters daily receipts and prepares invoices for miscellaneous billings.
  • Prepares journal entries in compliance with fund accounting requirements.
  • Reconciles bank statements to the general ledger.
  • Prepares & reviews accounts payable check runs; reviews chart of account coding, etc.
  • Reconciles contract-related invoices for accuracy and obtains appropriate approvals for invoices.
  • Assists with preparation of audit work papers.
  • Monitors general ledger postings monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excel/ Word/ General Ledger Accounting Software.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem solving is necessary.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, methods, equipment, and standard clerical procedures including electronic filing and records management.
  • Knowledge of record keeping and filing techniques.

Must have a high school diploma/GED. Must have at least two (2) years of hands-on experience working in high volume accounting settings/shared spaces. Must be able to organize work and set priorities. Must have a basic level of proficiency with MicrosoftWord and Excel. Must have excellent organizational skills, timemanagement skills, and good communication skills internally and externally. Must be able to transfer up to 25 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Some college education.
