The Office of the Clerk is seeking a Deputy Fiscal Officer to be located in Springfield, Illinois. The role involves supervising fiscal staff, assisting with budgets, payroll, and audits, and maintaining records for quick access.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma (some college preferred) and strong Excel/Word skills, with accounting background preferred. Salary starts at $75,000, with benefits including health and retirement programs.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent (some college preferred).
• Accounting background preferred.
• Strong organizational skills to meet stringent deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; and
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Fiscal Officer in supervising fiscal office staff and daily workflow.
• Support the preparation, monitoring, and reconciliation of office budgets and appropriations.
• Maintain all records and files in an orderly fashion for quick access.
• Review invoices and vouchers for compliance with SAMS Manual procedures.
• Help facilitate DocuSign workflows.
• Prepare and enter payroll for the Clerk’s Office.
• Balance and reconcile monthly appropriation reports with the Comptroller.
• Review contracts to ensure proper filing.
• Work with auditors to produce files for audit compliance.
• Participate in training sessions concerning payroll, insurance, and benefits.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and fiscal summaries as requested by the Fiscal Officer.
• Other tasks as assigned.
