Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field with 3+ years advising/education experience.
• 3+ years advising in higher education, including work with at-risk/transfer/undeclared students.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills; ability to synthesize data and plan solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a student records system; ability to report findings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in a year-long orientation program for first-year students and their transition.
• Support first-year activities to foster belonging and connection to campus and community.
• Develop and disseminate communication materials for stakeholders (faculty, parents).
• Lead seminars on first-year issues (time management, homesickness, leadership).
• Monitor attendance, academic performance, and progression; support graduation planning.
• Provide developmental and appreciative advising to holistically support students.
• Coordinate academic advising, tutoring, Learning Excellence, and Accessibility Resources.
• Advise on course selection, majors, and university policies; provide group and individual advising.
• Build rapport with departments and peer advising liaisons to meet student needs.
• Maintain confidential records, generate reports, and refer students to campus services.
