Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
• Minimum of two years of work experience in higher education, preferably in academic advising, or counseling.

Responsibilities

• Advise assigned students on progression requirements and selection of courses; review and interpret placement and other scores, transcripts, course enrollment and transfer work.
• Maintain systematic and frequent contact with advisees.
• Monitor, identify, and support students with academic difficulties.
• Refer students to appropriate support services such as counseling, financial aid, etc., and encourage participation in beyond-the-classroom activities.
• Collaborate with academic college and departmental representatives to ensure understanding of all degree programs responsible for advising.
• Provide an open and welcoming atmosphere that respects diverse backgrounds of each student.
• Support students through the development of career goals.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of major-specific curriculum and co-curricular activities.
• Serve on appropriate department, college and/or campus advisory committees.
• Other duties as assigned.
