Job summary

Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO is seeking an experienced First Assistant Surgical Technologist to join the Surgical Services Team. You will act as the first assistant to surgeons during procedures and support the perioperative team.

Responsibilities include delivering intraoperative care, handing instruments, and maintaining operating room efficiency. Candidates should have completed an accredited First Assistant Surgical Technologist Program and hold CSTFA or CSFA certification; 2-5

Qualifications

• Must have completed accredited First Assistant Surgical Technologist Program.
• Must have CSTFA or CSFA certification.
• Experience: <2 years; 2-5 years preferred.

• Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team.

Role Purpose

Acts as a first assistant to surgeons during surgical procedures in the operating room. Performs selected technical duties in an expanded perioperative role under the direction of the surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Delivers intraoperative patient care as the first assistant to the surgeon(s) as a collaborative team member.
• Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team.
• Functions as a member of the surgical team and contribute to the overall efficiency of the perioperative department.
• Participates in professional development and life-long learning.
