Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Progress West Hospital to join the Surgical Services Team. Schedule includes Monday to Friday with 3/12 shifts and every third weekend; hours are 6:30am-7:00pm. Responsibilities include OR prep and assisting with mother/newborn care and deliveries, vital signs, and specimen testing.

A $12,500 sign-on bonus is offered. The role supports surgical duties under RN supervision and provides pathways for growth within BJC Total Rewards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• <2 years or military equivalent experience.
• Accred Surgical Program

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

• Duties: Typical Surgical Technologist duties. Also, patient care on new mothers and infants including assistance in deliveries, taking vital signs on mothers and babies, performing testing on babies, and answering call lights, etc...

Overview

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.

Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.

Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

Role Purpose
