Job summary

Progress West Hospital in Missouri is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the OR under RN supervision, prepare the room, gather supplies, and assist with sterile technique.

The role includes surgical scrub duties, handling cultures and specimens, and turnover of rooms; may assist with deliveries and newborn care as needed.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED; accreditation program and Surgical Technician certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Accred Surgical Program completion preferred.
• Surgical Technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains supplies and equipment, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

Additional Information About The Role

• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• 3/12's Hour Shifts; Every 3rd weekend; One Major and Minor Holiday.
• Hours: 6:30am-7:00pm
• Duties: Typical Surgical Technologist duties. Also, patient care on new mothers and infants including assistance in deliveries, taking vital signs on mothers and babies, performing testing on babies, and answering call lights, etc...

Overview

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare's newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children's Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.

Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.

Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.
