Job summary

The Recruiting Hive in Harlan, Iowa is seeking a Welder to join our 1st shift. You will lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to build structural frames, stands, and shafts according to blueprints and print specifications.

Responsibilities include setting up welding equipment, performing MIG/TIG welds, inspecting parts, and maintaining 5S standards in the shop. A technical certificate or equivalent experience is required, with 2–5 years of MIG/TIG welding preferred.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 2-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-5 years of experience with MIG and TIG welding in a fabrication environment
• Must have aluminum and stainless steel TIG welding experience
• Be a problem solver
• Blueprint reading is a must
• Quality-focused
• Welding certification or technical degree a plus

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
• Set up equipment and welds parts, using MIG/TIG/Torch welding equipment.
• Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
• Basic knowledge and use of hand and power tools.
• Uses acetylene/plasma arc equipment to cut metal parts to print specifications.
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Responsible for reading blueprints, carrying out welding requirements, and ensuring product quality.
• Maintains and sustains 5S within the department.
• Responsible for checking the accuracy of engineering, sales, and manufacturing offices' input to ensure the customer's final product is correct and within quality acceptance guidelines.
• Understands, supports, implements, and sustains 5S program initiatives and goals.
