Job summary

Aerotek in Conyers, GA is seeking a Machinist to operate both manual and CNC mills and lathes, set up tooling, read blueprints, and produce precision parts to tight tolerances. You will perform tool changes, adjust programs, and inspect parts with micrometers and calipers on a first-shift, fully onsite role.

The position is a Contract to Hire with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement across a stable shop environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual lathes and manual mills.
• Experience operating CNC mills with basic program adjustments.
• Proficiency in machine setup including tooling selection and workholding.
• Ability to perform precision grinding to tight tolerances.
• Strong blueprint reading skills for machining requirements.
• Proficient use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators).
• Ability to perform calibration checks on measuring tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of routine machine maintenance to support equipment reliability.
• Detail-oriented with focus on accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes and mills, select tooling and fixtures.
• Change tools and adjust CNC programs to maintain part accuracy.
• Read blueprints and interpret tolerances for operations.
• Perform precision grinding to required finishes and tolerances.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators.
• Calibrate measuring tools to ensure inspection accuracy.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow shop procedures.
• Monitor feeds and speeds to optimize performance and reduce scrap.
