Job summary

Central Plains Steel in Wichita, KS is seeking 1st shift Parts Breakdown workers to remove cut parts from sheet metal, verify quality, and prepare items for shipping or downstream production. You will collaborate with machine operators and shipping to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals.

The role emphasizes muscular endurance, safe lifting up to 100 lb, standing for long periods, and operating material-handling equipment.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License required.
• Must meet Level 4 Heavy Work.
• 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Adequate manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination required.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions for work.
• Basic measurement and math skills required.
• Reliable arithmetic and decimal/fraction conversion abilities.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time.
• Sound decision-making based on knowledge, experience and judgment.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to push/pull up to 80 pounds.
• Certification to operate material handling and rigging equipment required.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with warehouse software.
• Warehousing experience is a plus.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and follow work orders and tool instructions.
• Coordinate and perform material handling tasks.
• Conduct quality checks on parts.
• Move materials using forklift, crane, and yard truck.
• Package and tag parts accurately for downstream processes.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and documentation.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards.
