Job summary

Central Plains Steel in Wichita, KS is seeking a full-time general shop worker for 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 6:30am-3:00pm) at Plant 1, 3900 N. Comotara. The team values respect, integrity, excellence and accountability to deliver best-in-class service to customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities include pulling/assembling orders, material handling, quality checks and maintaining a safe, clean workspace. A valid driver’s license and ability to perform heavy lifting are required; high school diploma

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED preferred.
• Must be able to meet Level 4 (Heavy Work).
• 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Complete basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions and core knowledge of shop flow.
• Pull and assemble orders based on review of work/shipping orders.
• Coordinate and execute material handling.
• Perform quality control inspections.
• Sort and package parts as directed.
• Tag material for proper identification and complete documentation.
• Operate yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane for loading/unloading.
