Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high school settings. The IA will assist with instructional activities, materials, and administrative tasks to reinforce lessons and support individual students as directed by licensed teachers.

The role requires collaboration with staff to implement strategies, monitor student progress, and maintain a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six documented semester hours of coursework in childhood education for Title I schools or two years of work experience in a childhood setting.
• CPI certification may be required depending on school/district needs and training provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in instructional activities and in ensuring a safe, encouraging classroom environment.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and preparing materials according to lesson plans.
• Support individual students or groups and participate in staff development and professional growth.
• Maintain confidentiality and act in a professional manner.
• Perform vision/hearing screenings if needed and document results.
