Job summary

City of Whitehouse is accepting applications for Firefighter/EMT to join our dedicated team. This position operates on a 24 on/48 off schedule with a 6‑month probation before permanent status and reports to the Fire Chief.

Responsibilities include fire suppression, medical care, vehicle/equipment checks, and reporting. Minimum qualifications include 18+, HS diploma, TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter, Texas EMT‑B+, a Texas license, and a valid CDL within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old at date of application.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter certification is required.
• Texas DSHS EMT-B or higher certification is required.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and obtain a Class B CDL within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, rescue and medical calls and perform duties of a professional firefighter/EMT.
• Perform firefighting activities including hose lines, ladders, and vehicle extrication.
• Provide emergency medical care per medical protocol.
• Daily inspection of emergency vehicles and equipment.
• Complete required fire/EMS call reports.
• Deliver public education and fire prevention programs.
• Maintain certifications via continuing education and training.
• Participate in pre-incident planning, inspections, PPE testing, and hose testing.
• Must be available for call back tours of duty.
