Job summary

City of Victoria, TX is hiring a Firefighter/EMT to respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and hazardous situations. The role includes operating fire apparatus, performing rescue and suppression, and supporting fire prevention activities.

Eligible candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent, EMT-Basic or Paramedic certification, and a Texas Class B license within one year. A 48/96 shift schedule applies and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• DSHS EMT-Basic or Paramedic certification.
• Texas Fire Protection Basic Structural Certification.
• Texas Class B driver’s license within one year.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties relating to fire prevention and suppression, EMS, and hazmat.
• Respond to emergency alarms, provide rescue and fire suppression, lay hoses and operate pumps.
• Respond to medical emergencies, perform search and rescue, and handle disasters.
• Maintain department equipment, facilities, apparatus and grounds; keep station ready.
• Provide public fire education; conduct tours and demonstrations; visit schools.
• Attend training and participate in daily physical training.
• Inspect buildings, hydrants, and structures for fire prevention.
• May operate fire equipment in absence of driver; may drive ambulance if needed.
• Adhere to rules and attend on-time; perform other duties as assigned.
