City of Suffolk seeks a dedicated firefighter/EMT to perform fire suppression, rescue, and hazmat response in a busy urban setting. You will inspect and maintain equipment, participate in regular training, and assist in station operations.

Proficiency in emergency medical care and report writing is expected. Qualifications include high school diploma or GED, Virginia firefighter credentials or reciprocity, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and probation period completion or 3 years firefighting experience.
• Virginia certifications listed below or ability to acquire by reciprocity.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Must hold or obtain Virginia Firefighter II, HAZMAT, EVOC Class III, and AEMT certifications.

Responsabilités

• Respond to fires, rescues, and hazmat responses as directed.
• Advance hose lines, operate pumps and ladders, and ventilate as needed.
• Inspect and maintain emergency response apparatus and equipment daily.
• Attend training sessions on fire suppression, hazmat, and EMS protocols.
• Prepare activity records and communicate with shift personnel.
