Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Field Project Manager, Fire Systems in Huntington Beach to lead moderately complex fire protection and security projects from planning through closeout. You will balance schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer expectations while coordinating with internal teams, customers, vendors, and partners.

The role emphasizes strong communication, vendor management, and hands-on field presence across commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial facilities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years PM or design in Fire Protection.
• 2+ years installation/servicing of fire systems.
• Ability to work in a matrix structure and resolve conflicts.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of MS Office and Project, including Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Ability to create tracking spreadsheets and macros.
• Organized, detail oriented, and self-motivating.

Responsibilities

• Lead moderately complex projects and provide project management support in scope definition, risk identification, resource allocation, and facilitation.
• Set up local project offices as needed and maintain control of schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Share project updates, project cycle status, and expected outcomes with management and customers.
• Manage vendor relationships throughout installation to support smooth project execution.
• Oversee project progression from inception to completion, including design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation.
• Develop project plans that support schedule and budget targets, and conduct Work in Progress meetings.
• Close projects on time and in scope while coordinating change orders and supporting margin improvement on every job.
