Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a skilled Service Technician to perform service and repairs on Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems, and Suppression Gas Systems at customer sites in Houston, TX. You will read blueprints and manuals, manage daily service calls, and participate in an on-call rotation for emergencies.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of relevant experience, an extinguisher license, and strong communication and PC skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems.
• Extinguisher license required.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proficient in PC applications: Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Perform service and repairs on Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems at customer sites.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs, and manuals.
• Manage daily service calls and customer activity; on-call rotation for Emergency Service.
• Use of mobile devices and equipment at customer sites.

What You Will Do

Perform service and repairs on Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems in addition to other related building system products at customer sites. Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturers including Simplex and ANSUL. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals. Manage daily service call, customer activity and program system products. You will work with clean agent systems, dry chemical systems, and special hazards.

How You Will Do It

• Assist customers with all questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Participation in an on-call rotation for Emergency Service.
• Performs inspections of Suppression Gas Systems based on contract requirements.
• Inspect customer systems
• Use of Smart Phone and Equipment
• May include government work

Required

What we look for

• 3+ years of experience with Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems
• Extinguisher License
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Outstanding Customer facing service and problem-solving skills
• PC Skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred

• Any Manufacturer certifications is a plus; ANSUL, Kiddie PyroChem
• Valid US driver’s license

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25-40 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
