Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Suppression Installer / Service Technician to join our Fire Suppression team. You will inspect, service, install, and repair fire suppression systems—including portable extinguishers, kitchen hood systems, clean agent systems, and gas suppression equipment—at customer sites.

You will read schematics, program systems, document deficiencies, advise customers on repairs, and maintain accurate service records while upholding safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with gas suppression systems.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work safely and independently.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various types of fire suppression systems, including portable extinguishers, kitchen hood systems, clean agent systems, and gas suppression systems.
• Service and install equipment from multiple manufacturers, including Simplex and ANSUL systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, schematics, submittals, operational manuals, and system programming documentation.
• Perform routine and complex service tasks independently or assist senior technicians with larger projects.
• Program, troubleshoot, and verify proper operation of suppression system products.
• Manage daily service calls and customer interactions professionally and efficiently.
• Accurately identify, document, and communicate system deficiencies discovered during inspections.
• Provide recommendations based on manufacturer specifications and applicable local, state, and national fire protection codes.
• Complete Fire Protection Deficiency Reports and communicate required repairs or upgrade opportunities to customers.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection forms, and required documentation.
• Professionally represent the company at customer sites at all times.
