Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Licensed NFPA Fire Sprinkler Inspector/Technician to ensure the reliability and code compliance of water-based fire protection systems across its Baton Rouge campus.

The role handles inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump systems, documenting results and coordinating corrective actions to support life safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience inspecting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and documenting commercial water-based fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA 25 and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, and special hazard suppression systems per NFPA standards and codes.
• Conduct scheduled inspections of various suppression systems to ensure readiness and compliance.
• Coordinate with facility personnel, contractors, fire marshals and authorities to support testing and compliance initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and repair deficiencies in fire protection systems including valves, piping, pumps, alarms and related equipment.
• Complete and maintain accurate inspection reports, testing documentation and corrective action records using CMMS and inspection software.
• Coordinate impairments, shutdowns, emergency repairs, and restoration of fire protection systems with minimal disruption.
• Interpret drawings and NFPA codes to evaluate performance, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain licenses, certifications and safety training per OSHA and related procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
