Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Texas is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to design and prepare layout drawings for fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial and residential settings. The ideal candidate holds an active RME-G license, understands NFPA codes and hydraulics, and is proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, AutoSPRINK and BIM 360; 3+ years of design experience preferred.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers and contractors to ensure all designs meet safety

Qualifications

• Active RME-G license required by Texas State Fire Marshal's office.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in engineering/drafting preferred.
• 3+ years in fire sprinkler design; AutoCAD experience required.
• NICET Level II+ in Water-Based Systems Layout preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply fire protection codes to design fire sprinkler systems and components.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP drawings and reports.
• Develop working layouts and final master drawings.
• Consult with engineers/consultants to ensure code-compliant layouts.
• Coordinate fabrication, installation issues and inspection feedback.
• Design sprinkler, standpipe, pumps and underground systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare material lists.
• Assist in proposals and technical data preparation.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA and local codes.
• Provide information to supervisors via phone, email or in person.
• Analyze data to identify cost-efficient solutions.
• Conduct site surveys including ladders/steps as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
