Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Houston, TX is seeking a Security Service Technician to perform service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fire, intrusion, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems. You will read blueprints, diagnose issues, test systems, and ensure compliance with codes while maintaining excellent customer relations.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 3+ years in fire and life safety, Texas Fire Alarm and Texas Security licenses, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in fire and life safety as an apprentice or technician.
• FAL - Texas Fire Alarm License required.
• Texas Security license required.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record, if driving.
• Knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions timely and professionally.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with codes and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system layouts; interpret manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work safely.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors about progress.
• Follow company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
• Travel to job sites as required.
