Job summary

Wachter, Inc. is seeking a Fire Alarm/Intrusion/Access Control Service Technician to support work at retail locations nationwide. The role requires reading blueprints, installing and servicing low-voltage cabling, and ensuring systems comply with NFPA codes.

Travel up to 30% and training orientation is provided. The ideal candidate will have Iowa license, NICET preferred, and strong customer communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold Iowa Alarm System license with Fire Alarm Installation Endorsement.
• Field installation experience in security environments: Fire Alarm /Intrusion / Access Control.
• NICET certification (Preferred).
• Current/valid state required Physical Security license and/or Life Safety license in the applicable technology.
• Knowledgeable about NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72.
• Work schedule mainly during the day 8 am to 5 pm, with some night shifts.
• Available for heights of 20'-60' on lifts.
• Experience reading blueprints and site maps.
• Experience with multiple Intrusion/Access system manufacturers is a plus.
• Assist with pre-installation opportunities designing and planning technical solutions.
• Perform new installs and provide technical escalation support on-site and remotely.
• Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.
• Basic PPE and reliable transportation during training period.
• Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling systems and equipment in IP Video, Access Control / Intrusion Alarm / LAN/WAN infrastructure, and wireless LAN.
• Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings; drilling concrete walls and limited conduit bending.
• Complete wiring, connections/terminations, and equipment installations for Access Control and Intrusion systems to meet contractual requirements.
• Install, repair, or upgrade fire alarm systems and program control panels per plans and layouts.
• Mount sensors; drill holes for cabling and access areas like crawlspaces or attics.
• Test to ensure systems are operational and compliant with codes.
• Adhere to project safety requirements; OSHA standards as applicable.
• Collaborate with Installation Team Lead or Project Manager on schedules and deliveries.
• Troubleshoot new system installations to meet codes and insurance requirements.
• Conduct tests to ensure all systems and devices are operational.
