Job summary

Wachter, Inc. is seeking a motivated Fire Alarm/Intrusion/Access Control Service Technician to service retail locations nationwide. You will install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling and access control systems, read blueprints, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards. Daytime work with some nights; valid California license and clean driving record required.

Qualifications

• Active California Fire/Life Safety Technician Certification (Blue Card) is required.
• Field installation experience in security environments: Fire Alarm /Intrusion / Access Control.
• NICET certification is preferred.
• Current/valid state Life Safety license and/or related license in applicable technology.
• Knowledgeable about NFPA standards (NFPA 70 and 72).
• Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in last 3 years).
• Work hours are mainly 8 am–5 pm with some night shifts; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling systems and equipment in IP Video, Access Control / Intrusion Alarm / LAN/WAN infrastructure, and wireless LAN.
• Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit bending work.
• Complete wiring, connections/terminations, and equipment installations ensuring Access Control/Intrusion systems meet contractual requirements.
• Install, repair, or upgrade fire alarm systems and program control panels with respect to plans and layouts.
• Mount sensors at locations; drill holes for cabling and access crawlspaces or attics.
• Test all newly installed systems to ensure operation and compliance with codes.
• Adhere to project safety requirements set by Wachter, customers, or OSHA.
• Assist Installation Team Lead/Project Manager with on-site schedules and timely equipment delivery.
• Troubleshoot new system installations to ensure proper operation and regulatory compliance.
