Job summary

Wachter, Inc. is seeking a Fire Alarm/Intrusion/Access Control Service Technician to work at various retail locations across the United States. The role requires field installation experience, NFPA knowledge, and valid security licenses.

You will perform installs, troubleshoot systems, and support customer relations with a team-focused environment. Travel and training are included; a company vehicle is provided after orientation, with day-to-day work typically 8 am–5 pm and some night shifts.

Qualifications

• Field installation experience in security environments: Fire Alarm / Intrusion / Access Control.
• NICET certification preferred.
• State Physical Security and/or Life Safety licenses required or in place.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.
• Reading blueprints and site maps is required.
• Occasional night shifts; day schedule typically 8 am–5 pm.
• Able to work at heights 20'–60' on lifts and carry PPE.
• Experience with multiple Intrusion/Access system manufacturers is a plus.
• Assist pre-installation with designing and planning technical solutions.
• Perform new installs and provide escalation support on-site and remotely.
• Excellent customer relationships and written/verbal communication.
• Reliable transportation during training; company vehicle after orientation.
• Computer literacy and basic MS Office knowledge.
• Email, spreadsheets, and internal systems proficiency.
• Valid driver's license with clean record (no DUI/DWI last 3 years).

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling and equipment in IP video, access control, intrusion, and LAN/WAN infra.
• Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings; drill walls and assist conduit work.
• Complete wiring and terminations; ensure systems meet contractual requirements.
• Install or upgrade fire alarm systems and program control panels per plans.
• Mount sensors, drill holes, access crawlspaces or attics as needed.
• Ensure compliance with electrical and fire codes; test newly installed systems.
• Follow project safety requirements per Wachter, customers, or OSHA.
• Collaborate with Installation Team Lead or PM on schedules and deliveries.
• Troubleshoot new installations to meet codes and insurance requirements.
