Job summary

Thompson Safety in Broomall, PA seeks a Fire Protection Inspections Manager to lead our fire protection inspection operations. You will supervise inspectors, coordinate scheduling, review documentation, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards, fire codes, and AHJ requirements.

This role focuses on staffing, training, budgeting support, and maintaining safety and quality across the department while serving customers and authorities having jurisdiction.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in fire protection inspection or related life-safety work
• Previous supervisory or management experience required
• Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and fire protection codes
• Valid driver's license; pass drug screen and background check

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the fire protection inspection department, including staffing and scheduling.
• Directly supervise inspection personnel, providing leadership and performance management.
• Identify training needs and coordinate technical, safety, regulatory, and professional development.
• Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance decisions per policy.
• Conduct field observations and quality-control audits to ensure quality work.
• Ensure staff have tools, equipment, licenses, and training to perform duties.
• Oversee inspection, testing, and documentation of fire alarm, sprinkler, pumps, hydrants, doors.
• Ensure work aligns with NFPA standards, fire codes, OSHA and AHJ requirements.
• Review reports for accuracy, code compliance, and quality; document deficiencies.
• Maintain permits, licenses, certifications, inspection records, and qualifications.
• Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
• Assist senior management with budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
• Stay current with changes to codes, standards, and industry practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
