Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Fire Protection Project Engineer in Urbandale, IA to lead design efforts for fire alarm, fire suppression, and smoke control systems. You will work as a project manager or lead engineer on lower-to-moderate complexity projects, mentoring staff and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

You’ll collaborate with senior staff on larger projects, manage budgets and scheduling, and ensure safety and quality across the design process.

Qualifications

• BS degree in fire protection or related engineering field.
• PE license in Fire Protection Engineering is required.
• Minimum two years (four preferred) in building design/consulting.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for fire alarm, fire suppression, and smoke control systems.
• Engage clients to understand needs and build relationships.
• Support project execution, planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Document design decisions and monitor progress and fees.
• Analyze problems and develop practical solutions with senior staff.
• Conduct in-process design reviews and ensure quality control.
• Stay current with industry trends and new technologies.
• Prioritize safety and mitigate risk in fire protection systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration.
