Job summary

HGA is offering a paid Summer 2027 Fire Protection & Life Safety Engineering Internship in Boston, MA or Washington, DC. The 12‑week program begins on or before June 1, 2027, through mid‑August, with possible early start to fit your school schedule.

As an intern you will assist with the design and review of fire protection systems, participate in design review meetings, prepare comprehensive design packages, support construction administration, and help document site evaluations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering or Fire Protection/Mechanical Engineering.
• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited program.
• Junior, senior, or graduate student status.
• Experience with Revit.
• Trace 3D+ knowledge is a plus but not required.
• Interest in fire protection, life safety, and building systems design.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and review of fire protection systems.
• Participate in design review meetings, workshops, and project coordination activities.
• Support the preparation of comprehensive fire protection design packages.
• Assist with construction administration and project support activities.
• Participate in site evaluations and documentation of existing fire protection systems.
• Gain exposure to building code requirements, fire and life safety systems, and multidisciplinary project teams.
