Job summary

WSP USA invites undergraduates to join our Fire & Life Safety Engineering Intern program for Summer 2027. The 12-week internship, starting May 17, 2027, offers exposure to real projects, mentorship, and cross-team collaboration across multiple locations including Boston, NY, Columbia MD, Arlington VA, Dallas, and Houston.

You will perform code research, assist design and calculations, and support project documentation while developing professional and technical skills under supervision.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Fire Protection Engineering undergraduate program.
• Anticipated graduation date August 2027 or later.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start date.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Basic proficiency with office software and technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Research building, life safety, and fire code requirements (ICC/NFPA).
• Assist design of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Support fire engineering calculations and smoke modeling.
• Assist commissioning of life safety systems.
• Review drawings for code compliance under supervision.
• Develop basis of design documents to inform building characteristics.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams and meet schedules.
