Job summary

Summit Fire & Security seeks an entry-level trainee to gain hands-on knowledge in fire protection inspections and 24-hour service under supervision. You will assist Inspectors with testing, maintenance, and NFPA-compliant activities.

The role emphasizes NICET exam progression, safety training, and developing a broad understanding of fire protection systems and devices, with opportunities for advancement as you gain certification.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years' experience inspecting fire protection systems preferred.
• Must be able to work alone and as part of a team.
• Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, customer service skills, decision making skills, ability to multitask, ability to meet project schedules, ability to plan and organize, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to train others is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Inspectors while they inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes.
• Developing knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes and standards.
• Developing knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems and their devices, appurtenances, critical components and operations.
• Perform testing and maintenance under direct supervision of an Inspection/Service Technician.
• Required to complete on the job training documentation each week.
• Differentiate between inspection deficiencies and service required to correct found deficiencies.
• Understand and follow SFS's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures.
• Participate in weekly Toolbox talks.
• Required to begin NICET exam cycle within 3 evolutions of training and NICET exam preparation within 4 evolutions, testing during session 5 or within 1 year of hire date.
• Trainees are required to pass NICET Level II certification in Inspection Testing & Maintenance prior to achieving Inspector status.
• Other duties may be assigned.
