Job summary

Summit Fire & Security is seeking an apprentice/trainee in Duluth, GA to gain hands-on fire protection inspection experience under supervision. You will learn NFPA codes, assist Inspectors, and contribute to testing, maintenance, and documentation.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, strong math and mechanical aptitude, and a desire to pursue NICET certification through on-the-job training and regional programs.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-2 years’ experience inspecting fire protection systems preferred.
• Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem solving, customer service, decision making, multitasking and planning required.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to comply with safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist Inspectors while they inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems.
• Develop knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes and standards.
• Learn fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and suppression systems and their components.
• Perform testing and maintenance under direct supervision.
• Complete on-the-job training documentation weekly.
• Differentiate between inspection deficiencies and service required.
• Follow safety programs and participate in toolbox talks.
• Attend inspector training sessions as scheduled per region.
• Begin NICET exam cycle preparation during training.
• Aim to pass NICET Level II prior to Inspector status.
• Other duties may be assigned.
