Job summary

Telgian seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to provide fire protection engineering and consultation services as part of a multi-discipline team, offering guidance on compliance with fire-related codes and standards and delivering reports and design concepts on fire prevention and life safety.

You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients, present technical information, participate in meetings and hearings, perform risk assessments and modeling for fire and life safety systems, and

Qualifications

• 4 years college degree (ie: Bachelors) or equivalent experience/certification in engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to travel
• 5 years field engineering/consulting experience in fire protection and/or architecture
• Working knowledge of Fire, Life Safety and Building Codes, NFPA Standards, and UL/FM standards
• MS Office software
• Ability to perform basic calculations using egress, fire smoke and water modeling software
• Strong verbal and written presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Establish design criteria for fire alarms, suppression and life safety systems
• Review existing fire protection systems for compliance and functionality
• Develop and deliver client reports on recommended updates
• Meet with authorities and clients to resolve compliance questions
• Prepare for and attend appeals/hearings to support regulatory findings
• Perform modeling of fire, smoke, water distribution for systems
• Identify design criteria for specific system applications
• Sign/seal engineering documents as Engineer of Record on assigned projects
• Maintain knowledge of codes and technologies and suggest proactive solutions
