Job summary

Telgian is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to provide fire protection engineering and consultation with a multi-discipline team. You will advise on compliance with fire-related standards and codes, and deliver reports and design concepts for safety and protection.

You'll work on a broad range of solutions-based projects, coordinating with architects, engineers, and clients. PE certification or eligibility is required, and travel to project sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• 4‑year college degree in engineering or related field is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain is required.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
• 5+ years of field engineering/consulting experience in fire protection or architecture preferred.
• Working knowledge of NFPA, UL/FM, and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Establish criteria for design of fire alarms, suppression and life safety systems.
• Review existing systems for functionality, compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and deliver reports on recommended updates for compliance and operation.
• Meet with authorities and clients to resolve compliance questions.
• Prepare for and attend appeals/hearings as required.
• Perform modeling of fire, smoke, water distribution and related variables.
• Identify design criteria for specific systems applications and tests.
• Gather information and serve as Engineer of Record on projects; sign/seal documents as required.
• Apply standard techniques to perform assigned tasks and stay current with codes.
