Job summary

Telgian is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to provide fire protection engineering and consultation services as part of a multi-discipline team. You will deliver technical analyses, design criteria, and client-ready reports for fire alarms, suppression and life safety systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification (or ability to obtain) required.
Ability to travel.
5 years field engineering/consulting experience in fire protection and/or architecture preferred.
Working knowledge of Fire, Life Safety and Building Codes, NFPA standards, and UL/FM standards.
Ability to apply broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific area.

Responsibilities

Establish criteria for fire alarm, suppression, and life safety system design based on client needs.
Review existing fire protection systems for compliance and functionality; provide improvements.
Develop and deliver client reports on recommended updates and compliance.
Meet with authorities and clients to resolve compliance questions.
Prepare for and attend appeals/hearings to support regulatory findings.
Perform modeling of fire, smoke, water distribution and related variables.
Identify design criteria for specific system applications; include test criteria as needed.
Serve as Engineer of Record and sign/seal documents when required.
Maintain knowledge of relevant fire protection codes and construction tech; propose proactive solutions.
