Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to lead design, analysis, and coordination of fire and life safety systems across a range of project types. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure code compliance and performance-based solutions.

The role requires deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to present clear reports and documentation to clients and AHJs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• PE license in Fire Protection required; QFPE on federal projects preferred.
• 7–10 years of related fire protection engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm, detection, suppression, smoke control, and special hazard systems.
• Develop and review life safety plans and deliverables.
• Provide life safety and building code consulting services.
• Analyze smoke management systems, means of egress, and fire hazards.
• Develop site fire protection features and fire department access plans.
• Develop building and fire code compliance alternatives, and Performance-Based Design analyses.
• Interface with AHJs and building owner insurance representatives.
• Collaborate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security and civil teams.
• Prepare clear, concise technical reports and documentation.
