Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to lead design, analysis and coordination of fire and life safety systems across diverse projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to support code compliance, performance-based design and client objectives.

The role requires taking on technical design work, coordinating with AHJs, and delivering clear technical reports. Expect travel up to 15% and collaboration with engineers across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering.
• Prior Qualified Fire Protection Engineer (QFPE) on Federal projects preferred.
• Experience with Building & Fire Codes and NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer fire alarm, fire detection, fire suppression, smoke control, and special hazard systems for new and existing facilities.
• Develop and review life safety plans and fire protection engineering deliverables.
• Provide life safety and building code consulting services.
• Analyze smoke management systems, means of egress, and fire hazards.
• Develop site fire protection features and fire department access plans.
• Develop building and fire code compliance alternatives, and Performance-Based Design (PBD) analyses.
• Interface with AHJs and building owner insurance representatives.
• Collaborate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil teams.
• Communicate with clients and prepare clear, concise technical reports and documentation.
