Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to lead design, analysis, and coordination of fire and life safety systems across varied projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant designs, performance-based analyses, and clear client-facing documentation.

The role requires strong communication, technical writing, and experience with building codes, NFPA standards, and life safety consulting. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 7–10 years of relevant fire protection engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering.
• Experience as a Qualified Fire Protection Engineer (QFPE) on Federal projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer fire alarm, detection, suppression, smoke control, and special hazard systems.
• Develop and review life safety plans and deliverables.
• Provide life safety and building code consulting services.
• Analyze smoke management, means of egress, and fire hazards.
• Develop site fire protection features and access plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interface with AHJs.
