Job summary

P2S invites students in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering to join a Summer Internship in Long Beach, CA. Interns will be part of the Fire Protection Design Studio, gaining hands-on experience in both office and field settings while contributing to client projects.

The program emphasizes real-world industry exposure, mentorship, and opportunities to participate in company events, visits to project sites, and internal trainings. Interns work 10–12 weeks during summer.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection or related program.
• Training in Revit and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
• FE/EIT is a plus and CAD/BIM standards familiarity is desirable.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Project Support: assist engineering team in ongoing projects and meet deadlines.
• Design and Prototyping: contribute to design processes and create/modify drawings.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: assist in tests and address issues with QA teams.
• Documentation: maintain project docs and generate progress reports.
• Collaboration: work with cross-functional teams and participate in meetings.
• Learning and Development: engage in training sessions and develop technical skills.

Hourly: $24.00 Undergraduate / $26.00 Graduate

Internship Program

The internship program aims to offer a positive work/training experience aligned with career goals and education level. Interns will be part of the Fire Protection Design Studio team, gaining hands-on experience in office and field settings and actively contributing to client projects. The program emphasizes real-world industry exposure, including visits to project sites and internal training opportunities, fostering a unique learning experience and encouraging participation in company events.

Schedule

The Summer Internship lasts 10-12 weeks, starting in June and ending in August - September, depending on the candidate's availability.

Responsibilities

Project Support:

• Assist the engineering team in the execution of ongoing projects.
• Conduct research and analysis to contribute to project development.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines.

Design and Prototyping:

• Contribute to the design process by creating and modifying engineering drawings.
• Participate in prototyping activities to test and validate design concepts.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Assist in conducting tests to ensure the functionality and reliability of engineering solutions.
• Work closely with quality assurance teams to identify and address potential issues.

Documentation:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
• Generate reports and summaries to communicate project progress.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Participate in team meetings, providing valuable insights and feedback.

Learning and Development:

• Engage in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills.
• Seek opportunities for continuous learning and development within the engineering field.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection or other related program.
• Training in Revit and/or AutoCAD is a plus
• FE/EIT is a plus
• Trained to utilize CAD/BIM standards
• Ability to work effectively in a highly energetic and multiple-engagement environment, dedication to teamwork, a strong work initiative, and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas; detail-oriented
