Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design fire protection systems for infrastructure projects across multiple offices. You will ensure compliance with NFPA/UFC and support federal work with QFPE responsibilities.

The role offers a hybrid work environment with potential office bases in several cities, including Boston, Fairfax, Pittsburgh, Maitland, Raleigh, and Dallas. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with sales to respond to RFPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic/international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection system designs including water supply, hydraulics, sprinklers and alarms.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects with life safety considerations.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC and local regulations.
• Collaborate on proposals and meet with clients to assess design needs.
• Conduct site assessments and stay aligned with industry standards.
• Mentor junior staff and supervise project engineers.
