Job summary

Alliance Consulting Group, Inc. seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to plan and design fire protection and life-safety systems for federal, military, healthcare, and critical facilities.

You’ll perform code analyses, prepare drawings and calculations, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires a PE license in Fire Protection Engineering, strong communication, and the ability to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience designing, evaluating, and implementing fire protection systems—independently or under senior guidance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or a related engineering degree with a Master’s in Fire Protection Engineering
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Fire Protection Engineering in at least one U.S. jurisdiction ( Alliance may consider exceptional candidates actively pursuing licensure)
• Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
• Strong understanding of and experience preparing drawings, calculations, design analyses, and project documentation including budgets and schedules
• Working knowledge of International Building Code, International Fire Code, NFPA 13, NFPA 72, NFPA 101
• Ability to travel to project sites and satisfy federal client access requirements

Responsibilities

• Plan, evaluate, and design fire protection and life-safety systems for new construction, renovations, additions, and existing facilities.
• Prepare fire suppression, fire alarm, mass notification, and life-safety drawings, specs, calculations, reports, and design analyses.
• Perform sprinkler hydraulic calculations, hazard classifications, fire-flow analyses, water-demand calculations, and fire-pump evaluations.
• Evaluate wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, standpipe, and special-hazard suppression systems.
• Design and evaluate fire alarm, detection, emergency communication, and mass notification systems.
• Review hydrant flow-test data, fire-pump curves, equipment data, delegated-design calculations, and contractor shop drawings.
• Coordinate fire protection requirements with architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, security, and telecom disciplines.
• Apply IBC, IFC, NFPA, UFC requirements and agency-specific design criteria.
• Prepare coordinated construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other platforms.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, BIM coordination meetings, planning charrettes, client presentations, and technical workshops.
