Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a dynamic Fire Protection Design Manager to lead the design/BIM efforts on new construction sprinkler projects from our Richmond, VA headquarters.

The role requires 5–7 years of fire protection design and supervisory experience, NFPA knowledge, and proficiency with AutoCAD and related design software; relocation to Richmond is required with a potential initial work-from-home option.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of fire protection design or equivalent experience.
• Prior supervisor/management experience.
• NICET Level II certification is preferred.
• Understanding of NFPA and local authorities' jurisdiction requirements.
• Ability to interpret architect drawings/specifications.
• Proficient in Windows-based CAD and fire protection design software.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Must be able to multi-task with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage project responsibilities for each project and delegate to team members.
• Review design drawings for NFPA compliance with project specifications.
• Review material submittals for NFPA compliance with project specifications.
• Review hydraulic calculations for compliance with NFPA codes.
• Coordinate and procure material stock lists for construction projects.
• Coordinate material delivery with customer and field superintendent.
• Supervise designers and monitor design hours for profitability and efficiency.
• Coordinate permit process with AHJ and review shop drawings with A/E.
