Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Fire Protection Engineering Intern in Des Moines, IA to support analysis, design, and implementation oversight of fire protection systems in buildings. The 10-12 week summer program offers paid, mentored internship experience with real project work alongside engineers and consultants.

The internship runs 10-12 weeks with a full-time in-office schedule in Des Moines, IA (also listed locations include Louisville and Boston).

Qualifications

Completed at least 2 years toward a BS degree in Fire Protection Eng., Mechanical Eng., Electrical Eng., or equivalent.
Prior internship experience in building design is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with design portions of fire protection systems for building projects per code and IMEG standards.
Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources.
Support project budgeting and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Maintain client relations, design notebooks, and permanent records.
Coordinate design and schedule information with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, tech, clerical, and supplier teams.
Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring progress.
Review project documents for accuracy before final check.
Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
Conduct periodic job site observations and support required services.
