Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation is seeking a Fire Prevention Supervisor to lead inspection, investigation, prevention, and life safety programs for the Salt Lake City Fire Department. The role reports to the Fire Marshal and supervises Fire Prevention Specialists, providing strategic direction and program oversight.

The ideal candidate will ensure fire code compliance, develop community risk reduction strategies, manage budgets, and foster partnerships with developers and community groups.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Fire Science or related field.
• Five years of progressive experience in fire prevention.
• ICC Fire Inspector I certification.
• Advanced knowledge of fire prevention principles and investigation techniques.
• Experience leading programs and supervising personnel.
• Valid Utah driver's license.
• Pass background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs fire prevention programs and supervises staff.
• Develops community risk reduction strategies and metrics.
• Manages budget planning and resource allocation.
• Acts as technical authority on fire protection regulations.
• Reviews construction plans for code compliance.
• Performs complex fire code inspections of structures and sites.
• Builds partnerships with stakeholders and agencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
