Salt Lake City Fire Department seeks a Fire Prevention Specialist to support fire prevention and life safety efforts. Under the guidance of the Fire Marshal or Deputy Fire Marshal, you will conduct inspections, enforce safety codes, and develop engaging educational programs for the public.

Formación

• Minimum of two years of experience in communications, fire, or related industries.
• Fire Inspector I certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Working knowledge of fire prevention methods, building and fire codes, and the legal system as it affects enforcement.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and blueprints and compare them with construction in progress.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct general inspections on premises for compliance with fire codes and laws and prepare reports.
• Act as consultant to fire department personnel and public on fire prevention and life safety.
• Represent department at functions involving life and fire safety programs and produce related materials.
• Perform research for fire inspection, code development, public education and information activities.
• Maintain liaison with fire department and public safety agencies and provide training as required.
• Maintain positive relationships and communicate effectively with community and city staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
